I had asked a good friend of mine if she would share this weeks Blog. These are her thoughts……Thanks Almira!
When I woke up Monday morning, the Scripture verse for the day’s devotion was Psalm 46:1,” God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
This is the same verse from Sunday morning service. Paul Carline was amazing in reminding us that we are all refugees and in need of God to be our refuge and strength. Normally, when God repeats a Scripture to me, He is getting my attention to remind me of something I have forgotten. When I pondered the rest of that verse, God was reminding me that “He is a very present help in trouble,” meaning He is present today in today’s troubles, not tomorrow’s. Often, I am so focused on tomorrow. How long will this last? Will I get to do the things I used to do? Will I ever get better? I then forget to use the energy and strength I do have to focus on today and live in the moment, even if that moment is resting in a bed or chair all day. God reminded me that He is my present help, refuge and strength today and to stop worrying about tomorrow. Jesus did say in Matthew 6:34, “…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” I pray that wherever you are in your walk with the Lord and no matter what you are going through or the changes taking place in your life, that you live in the moment and know that God is present with you today to help get you through today.
